Joe Freshgoods officially teased his latest project with New Balance at the beginning of the month, and it’s now time for it to come out. It’s the return of the 1000 shape from 1999 and the start of a fun new era for the shoe. Since then, different inline colors have been revealed, including an “Off-White/Green” pair that was seen just a few days ago. The Joe Freshgoods x New Balance 1000 is said to be coming next week in both “Pink Mink” and “Black Ice” designs, but no exact information has been released. New Balance is bringing back the 1000, a shoe from 1998 that has been out of production for a long time. Joe Freshgoods is one of the famous brands that is helping them with this project. Woganwodeyang, a sneaker leaker, recently posted a peek on Instagram about the project that Freshgoods and New Balance are working on together. It’s not a full picture of the new form, but it does give us a first look at some important characteristics.
Real Story At first glance, the color scheme of the shoe is similar to the Skepta x Nike Air Max 97 Ultra from 2017. It’s a mix of black and gray with copper-colored shimmering accents. A classic gum base and a custom “jfg” hit in the shape of a circle can be found on both the heel and the mint green insoles. This is the first time Freshgoods has worked with New Balance. The 992 “No Emotions Are Emotions” collection explored the idea of letting your work speak for you, and the 990v3 “Outside Clothes” collection honored both summer in Chicago and Black cultural traditions. But there’s still no word on what inspired this design.

The Joe Freshgoods x New Balance 1000 comes after a busy 2023 for Freshgoods and New Balance as well, as the two teamed up three times, creating the 610 and Rainer Boot “Beneath the Surface,” the 650 “Stuntman” and a Belly-inspired set of 990v4s. As for the 1000, Freshgoods joins Aimé Leon Dore as one of the earlier joint partners to be leaked. Several in-line colors are on the way as well.
